The Oviedo Cathedral will host a central event on this holiday, our Easter concert. Following the thread of our commitment to the revaluation of our heritage, the music of the Flamenco Chapel of Felipe II will be a central part of the repertoire. But, this time, it will be accompanied by works of magnificent 20th century composers.

The Cathedral of Oviedo is an international symbol, an essential point on the Camino de Santiago and the beginning of the primitive path, a crossroads of cultures and history. For this reason, 16th century Flemish composers, based in Spain, will fill the walls of the temple alongside international contemporary authors. A beautiful and timeless route, an eternal route that aims to reflect the complex events that time has carved into the solid rock of the Cathedral of Oviedo.

Each of the pieces reflects a page from a stony book set in its walls, in which we will humbly write new words. The first chapter will be composed by Renaissance works, evoking a past of splendor, when sacred walls of the cathedral were the natural habitat of this music. A perfect symbiosis between sound and architecture. Unquestionably, the cross has an omnipresent symbolic power in Easter. Knut Nysdtedt, with his O Crux, poignantly describes the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that took place on these dates. With the When David Heard we will hear the terrible grief of the loss of his son. The Regina Caeli will commemorate his resurrection on the third day and, thanks to Arvo Pärt and his Nunc Dimittis we can give thanks for the salvation of the Lord.
