The Flemish Chapel was one of the central institutions of the Habsburg, a reflection of a royal power that at that time stood as leader of all known world. Felipe II was a great patron of music, during his reign Spain went through one of the best musical moments in its history. Great Renaissance composers from the Netherlands, such as Manchicourt, Payen, Rogier or George de la Hèle would be brought to Castile to put their art at the direct service of the monarchy. Despite the great importance that this group of artists and composers had at the time, and its subsequent transcendence and influence, their music is not part of the list of regulars in the programming.
Therefore, we have strongly supported its revaluation recording a CD and including this wonderful music in our season. It is necessary to revive these scores so that they can re-illuminate with their sonority all kinds of architectures, and we must bring to stage one of the most brilliant periods in our history.
